Annual Update and Appeal from Whiteout Press

By Mark Wachtler

November 24, 2014. Chicago. (ONN) It’s that time of year again - time to give our readers a brief update regarding the state of Whiteout Press and our plans for the future. It’s also the one time of year we ask readers to make a small contribution to help us continue to publish. Whiteout Press is a free publication and not funded by anyone but readers and subscribers like you. We don’t ask for donations often. So please consider making a small contribution. There’s so much more we want to do, and with just a little bit of help, we can make it happen.

Alone? Outnumbered? Scared? Ignored? Whiteout Press has your back!

Personal story

Long time readers know Whiteout Press is a passionate, hard working, one-man operation - me. You also know my personal situation. So, I won’t harp on it. But it’s only gotten crazier since I wrote last year. Very briefly, I’m a 20-year-long single parent, raising two daughters, denied child support, and having to pay child support for 20 years, for kids I’ve been raising, including this week, last week, next week. They’ve suspended my driver’s license, arrested me, jailed me and tormented me for two decades, for no legitimate reason.

My girls are 22 and 20 now and both have just moved back in with me after a brief foray out on their own. My 2 year-old granddaughter is also living with me now, along with their three formerly abused, but now rescued, stray dogs because my girls are animal lovers like their dad who can’t say no to a kind soul in need. And did I mention I also take care of my 83-year-old, cancer-stricken parents who live one floor above our tiny little one-bedroom Chicago apartment? Like I said, it’s crazy. And since being laid off after ten years on the same job, we’re poor. We also collect no government assistance. But we’re a family and we take care of each other. Now, enough about me, let’s talk about Whiteout Press!

Whiteout Press update

Whiteout Press continues to grow and with that growth, we’ve hit a major bump in the road. It seems our mailing list is so large - nearly 10,000 now - that the internet spam police are occasionally banning emails from our server due to the large volume. It doesn’t seem to matter that they’re all opt-in subscribers. We’re going to continue to send out our weekly email blasts in smaller batches to see if that helps. As soon as we can pull together the resources, we’ll need to switch to a paid bulk email service to avoid ongoing rejected emails. That’s one item on our wish list.

Video camera

How would you like to watch Whiteout Press TV on cable or on your computer? Probably nowhere near as much as we want to produce it. The only thing we’re lacking now is a functioning video camera. Long time readers know this has been at the top of our wish list for over three years. Literally the only thing stopping us now is lack of a decent used or cheap commercial video camera. If anyone has one laying around they don’t need or is doing a little holiday shopping on Amazon or eBay, keep us in mind.

Opposition News and the Illinois Herald

Besides having four generations of my family living in my small apartment with me, there’s another reason the frequency of Whiteout Press articles have dropped from every day to every other day. That reason is Opposition News and the Illinois Herald. When those two news outlets were born out of Whiteout Press almost two years ago, they admittedly played second fiddle. But today, I try to dedicate equal time to each publication. The Illinois Herald was founded in 1814 and already has local respect and credibility due to its history. It’s the oldest newspaper in the state of Illinois.

Not to be outdone, Opposition News has exploded in popularity to such an extent that your author is in continuous communication with national and state leaders of the Libertarian Party, Green Party, Constitution Party, PSL, Veterans Party and the rest. If anyone knows how we can expand Opposition News into a syndicated radio program on AM, FM or satellite, let us know. If you haven’t checkout out the Opposition News website, be sure to give it a quick look, especially if you like independent and third party politics like we do. You’ll see why Opposition News is called the ‘Voice of America’s political opposition’.

Final thoughts

I rarely get the chance to say this, but it’s truly a privilege and an honor to write and publish Whiteout Press. Like I always say, the emails and letters from readers are the real reward. One common statement we hear is from the countless people who write to Whiteout Press and ask us to help them. Sometimes they’ve been victimized by Wall Street corporations, sometimes government agencies. You wouldn’t believe how often they tell me, “You were the only one that responded.” There are a lot of hurt people out there these days, alone and ignored. If Whiteout Press is that tiny ember of light in an endless sea of darkness and injustice, then I couldn’t be prouder.

We may occasionally inject our own opinion into a story here and there. But we always do everything we can to get the story straight and we haven’t had to do a retraction since we started three and a half years ago. We also don’t back down when New York and Washington law firms and PR agencies threaten us and demand we retract or remove a critical article about their Fortune 500 clients. In fact, we’ve never removed a single article yet.

And in case you didn’t notice, you’ll never ever see a pop-up window, self-playing video or any other annoying money-making gimmick on Whiteout Press. And your personal information and email are never shared, rented or sold under any circumstances. It’s been an interesting and exciting year, and the way things are going here in America lately, it’s only the beginning. Stay tuned to Whiteout Press to get the news they don’t want you to know. If it’s blacked-out, covered-up or censored, you can find it here!

Once again, we don’t appeal for funds often. So if you can make a small contribution to help Whiteout Press continue to publish, it would be sincerely appreciated.
